Because of the ongoing pandemic, I had to wait almost two years before my primary care physician, Dr. Tallman, was able to refer me to Dr. Craig Mahoney at Iowa Ortho to address the deterioration of my right hip, which was being consumed by arthritis. The most wonderful outcome of the total hip replacement surgery was being able to walk again without limping in pain. Part of the month’s long process was physical therapy arranged by Iowa Ortho with my retirement center’s physical therapist.

As chief editor for my facility’s newsletter, I’m now able to enjoy walking to staff meetings without assistance and even working on projects in our woodshop again after my total hip replacement surgery.
