Trauma & Fractures Services
Musculoskeletal trauma injuries can be sudden and life-altering. Our trauma physicians hold advanced training and experience in this highly technical and time-sensitive field of medical care.
The Iowa Ortho trauma team includes two trauma fellowship-trained surgeons – Dr. Kamal Aderibigbe and Dr. Chinedu Nwosa. Dr. Aderibigbe and Dr. Nwosa cover Iowa’s busiest emergency room and are available 24/7/365.
Orthopedic traumas are severe injuries to the musculosketal system – bones, joints, ligaments, nerves, and tendons. Typically, these critical injuries occur as a result of an accident and require immediate medical attention.
Traumatic injuries will often times include several systems of the body. Our orthopedic trauma surgeons will work alongside additional specialists such as cardiologists, pulmonologists, etc., to establish a comprehensive plan of care both surgically and post-operatively. Following initial care with an orthopedic trauma specialist, our sub-specialized orthopedic physicians may provide additional follow-up care.
The Iowa Ortho Orthopedic Trauma surgeons spend the majority of their time at the MercyOne Des Moines hospital, and perform follow-up evaluations at Iowa Ortho clinics. Our team understands the emotional toll that a traumatic accident and injury presents and will be right by your side during each stage of recovery to not only ensure proper healing, but also answer your questions and provide support.
