Preparation depends on the type of scan. For most X-rays and body composition scans, no special preparation is needed. For CT, MRI, or DEXA scans, you may receive specific instructions when your appointment is scheduled.

Yes. We have headphones available for your imaging exams as needed.
It depends on location. Our Des Moines MRI is an open design unit, so you’ll be able to see out of the machine rather than being fully enclosed. Our Waukee MRI is a high-speed, wide-bore unit built for fast, precise imaging with a more comfortable fit than a traditional closed-bore scanner. For severe cases of claustrophobia, our team can coordinate with the ordering doctor to have an antianxiety medication prescription filled at either location.
This can vary widely depending on the type of exam and patient factors like motion. In a perfect setting, most exams without contrast take 30 minutes or less. If your study has contrast, you can expect your appointment to take 45-60 minutes.
Our Des Moines location features an open MRI designed to reduce feelings of confinement, comfortably accommodate larger body types, and allow a parent to stay beside their child during the scan. Our Waukee location features a high-speed, wide-bore MRI that shortens scan times while still delivering sharp, detailed images. Both locations perform a broad range of MRI studies, not just orthopedic imaging.
